Well, procrastination has taken place, but I did not miss any sailing time due to sitting on a computer during good sailing weather. Although way off plan, the boat did make it back to New Brunswick, Canada and has been on the hard since the sailing season ended here. It was a long, but great trip, so I will break it into parts (days). From North Hero Marina, Vermont through the Champlain Canal, the Hudson river, then the Atlantic ocean down east to New Brunswick and Douglas Harbour, NB Canada.
We were still not allowed to cross the land border, so we booked 3 plane tickets to Burlington,VT from Moncton,NB. Suzanne and I, plus a friend Mike MacDonald were confirmed. Of course it had to be complicated as well as it had an aircraft change in Montreal,QC, a 45 minute car ride from the boat, but bringing us first from Montreal to Chicago, then back to Burlington; an additional 5 hours flying. Oh well, these are COVID times and if you can get anything accomplished, it will always be more time and money. We were off!
July 6, 2021 we boarded an Air Canada flight and after a full day of flying, we got to our hotel in North Hero and prepared to inspect the boat the next day. We were nervous on what condition we would find her in after a year and a half on the hard. We did drive to the marina quickly after we got the rental car, but we were pretty much spent after all day. We were relieved to see Untide in fairly good condition, so were off to the hotel, out to supper and a few tasty beverages as we started our adventure of bring our girl home. What will our days hold in store for us? We are eager to begin!
